Dighton-Rehoboth Banner

Hello and welcome. I’m Dylan Patterson, Chief of Staff for the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District.

    Dighton-Rehoboth Chat & Voice Assistant

    Inspiring Learning, Building Community

A simple, school-friendly way for staff, families, and community members to get clear answers, next steps, and resources about DRRSD.

What you can do with the assistant

    • Get plain-English explanations of district policies, programs, and timelines.

    • Ask for how-to steps on curriculum, special services, safety, and family engagement.

    • Turn long documents into quick summaries or checklists you can act on today.

    • Draft messages, posts, and talking points that match our DR voice and accessibility standards.

    • Locate the right DR resource or policy and understand what it means for you.

    Quick start

    1. Ask a focused question. “How do I report a bullying concern?” or “What are our K-8 STEM highlights?”

    2. Say what you need. “Give me the steps and the link,” or “Summarize for families.”

    3. Refine. “Shorter, add dates,” or “Write it at a Grade 7–8 reading level.”

    Try these prompts
    • “Explain our mission and ‘We Are DR’ in 3 sentences for a newsletter.”

    • “Create a parent-friendly overview of our integrated preschool. Include who to contact.”

    • “Outline how to report bullying, with the exact steps and forms.”

    • “Summarize DRRHS Chapter 74 pathways in two paragraphs.”

    Text chat tips

    • Be specific. Name the school, grade, program, or policy.

    • Ask for the format. “Bulleted steps,” “email draft,” “talking points,” or “social caption + alt text.”

    • Set the audience. Families, staff, School Committee, or community.

    Voice chat tips

    • Use a quiet space and a short opener like “Hi Dylan,” then ask one question at a time.

    • Pause after a reply. Ask, “Can you condense that?” or “What should I do first?”

    Best-practice shortcuts

    • “Give me the 3 things to do next.”

    • “Rewrite for families at Grade 7–8 level.”

    • “Draft a one-page FAQ with headings and links.”

    • “Create a post + alt text for Facebook and Instagram.”

What the assistant knows about DRRSD

    • Mission and values used in every response.

    • Programs and pathways across K-12, including Chapter 74 CTE and Early College.

    • Safety, belonging, and reporting processes that reflect our policies.

    • Governance and procedures from the Policy Manual and regional agreement.

    • And much more. Try to stump me!

    Safety, privacy, and boundaries

We follow district policies for a safe, inclusive environment and clear reporting. The assistant will not request or store confidential student information and will route you to the correct official process when needed.

    • Bullying Prevention and Intervention
Get the definition, how to report, who is notified, and investigation steps. Ask: “Give me the steps and link to the incident form.”

    • Nondiscrimination and Title IX
Ask for the summary, coordinator contacts, and how to report concerns.

    • Public records and meetings
Ask for plain-language guidance on open meeting and records requests.

If there is any conflict between an assistant response and an official DRRSD policy or form, the official policy and form control.

    How answers are written

    • Plain language, student-centered tone, and ADA awareness by default.

    • Headings, bullets, summaries, and alt-text for clarity and accessibility.

    • Brand consistency with “We Are DR,” Empower • Ignite • Shape.

    • Citations to DR sources when referencing district facts or procedures.

    Example: “Report a bullying concern”

Say: “List the exact steps to report bullying at DRRSD and include the form.”
    You’ll get:

    1. What counts as bullying or retaliation.

    2. Where to find the Incident Reporting Form and how to submit it.

    3. Who is notified and typical timelines.

    4. What to expect during investigation and follow-up.

Example: “Share CTE pathways with families”

Say: “Summarize DRRHS Chapter 74 programs in two short paragraphs for a family email.”
You’ll get: a concise, readable summary of Advanced Manufacturing, Automotive, Carpentry, Drafting & Design, Early Childhood & Care, Marketing, and Radio/TV, plus the Grade 9 exploratory rotation and how to learn more.

    Accessibility and language support

    • Grade 7–8 readability, short sentences, and low-jargon default. Ask for translations or a version for screen readers.

    • Alt-text prompts for images and social posts.

    For staff: creating communications faster

    Ask for:
    • Email drafts, slide bullets, or one-page briefs that match DR style.

    • Website copy with headings, meta description, and FAQ.

    • Social posts with platform-right lengths, CTAs, and 3–5 relevant hashtags.

    For families: quick guidance

    Try:
    • “Explain our mission and what ‘We Are DR’ means for my child.”

    • “How do I contact Special Education or our preschool?”

    • “What clubs, arts, and athletics are available this season?”

    For community partners

Ask for a short overview of:
    • Partnership opportunities and points of contact.

    • Volunteer and event support with clear steps and timelines.

    Know the limits

    • The assistant summarizes and guides. It does not replace official district policy, legal counsel, or required approvals.

    • When a response involves law, contracts, or student records, you will be pointed to the owner office and the current official form.

    Contact and next steps

    • Ask a question now in chat or voice and request “steps + links.”

    • Need an official policy? Say “link me to the current DRRSD policy manual index.”

    • Want this content for your school site or newsletter? Say “create a one-page version for families.”

Mission reminder: DRRSD provides students with the tools, including technology, to acquire knowledge, apply skills, think critically, and develop social responsibility.
